Terms of Use

These terms explain the rules for using NihongoReady and the limits of its study material.

What this service is

NihongoReady is a free, independent Japanese study service. It provides reference material, practice, and practice tests, and it saves your progress.

What this service is not

  • Not official, and not affiliated with the JLPT or its organizers. The Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services run the JLPT. This service is independent of them.
  • Not a source of official exam content. NihongoReady’s questions are its own. Its vocabulary and kanji level groupings are estimates because the JLPT does not publish official lists.
  • Not a prediction of your result. Study progress and practice results do not guarantee an exam result.

Your account

You need an account to save progress. Keep your sign-in details private, and do not let another person use your account.

You can delete your account at any time from your account page. We may suspend or remove an account that is used to abuse the service or violate these terms.

Acceptable use

Do not:

  • attempt to access another person’s account or data;
  • attempt to obtain or share restricted test questions or answer keys;
  • scrape, bulk-download or redistribute the study material;
  • interfere with or misuse the service, including through automated requests or attempts to bypass security.

The material here

NihongoReady’s study material, questions, and explanations are provided for personal study. Some linguistic data comes from openly licensed dictionary projects and remains subject to those licenses. You can export your own answers and progress from your Account page.

Availability and warranty

The service is provided as is, without warranty. It may be unavailable, and features may change or be discontinued. Study material may contain errors, and nothing here guarantees an examination result.

Changes

These terms may change. We will update their effective date when they do. Continuing to use the service means the current terms apply.
